Common Vehicle Problems
Always refer to your vehicle’s manual
Won’t Start / Cut Out
When you turn the key do the dashboard lights or radio come on?
Need help with a wheel change?
Check that you have both a spare tyre (normally under the carpet in the boot) & the locking wheel nut. A locking nut is unique to your car and I normally found in a plastic box – either in the glove box or with the spare tyre in the boot. If you don’t have these we might not be able to help.
My car is smoking! Is it white or black?
My car won’t go into / come out of gear!
This could be a number of problems, gear linkage, clutch – or part of the clutch such as the plates, cables, fluid or cylinders. This cannot be fixed roadside, you will need to get to a garage for diagnostics and repairs.
I’ve lost all or most of my power whilst driving / the car is in limp mode
Modern vehicles have limp mode to protect themselves from further damage, it often means that something is wrong. It needs diagnostics and repairs at a garage. Pull over as soon as it is safe to do so and call for recovery.
